Our mission is to reduce waste and pollution in our community, to help people re-think the products they use and the way they shop and consume, and to provide a channel for people to make more environmentally responsible decisions when shopping for household essentials.

Meet the Partners

  • A woman with long, brown hair and glasses standing on a boat or near water.

    Bethany Barbouti

Bethany co-founded The Eco Flamingo in 2020 and her favorite aspect of its creation has been reducing waste in the city she loves. Her passion for the environment and aversion to waste was passed down by her grandmothers, leading her to earn a master’s in sustainable food. She’s a mom of two adventurous kids and is passionate about sustainable living and design, herbal medicine, and Sherlock Holmes.

  • Smiling woman with long hair, wearing a yellow patterned top.

    Alexis Chavez

Alexis is originally from Southern California and a first generation Mexican-American. Being a Taurus, her passion for the environment comes naturally. She loves The Eco Flamingo for not only being a space for people to make more sustainable decisions, but mostly for the people themselves. Getting to know regular shoppers has been the most rewarding. Her favorite things are bright sunny days, admiring her dog, binge watching reality tv shows, and cooking.

  • A woman with shoulder-length brown hair taking a selfie in front of jars of spices.

    Mia McCullough

At 8 years of age, Mia began volunteering at an environmental center where she cared for critters, both wild and domesticated, and learned the value of the natural world. While she chose to pursue studies in theatre and became an award winning playwright, she's so glad to get back to her roots of caring for the environment through her work at The Eco Flamingo. She hates being wasteful. A lot.

Sustainable

We strive to provide the most environmentally responsible options for our products and operations.

We prioritize plastic and package-free goods and avoid all materials which are detrimental to the planet.

Circular

We participate in a circular economic model by working with local and regional makers and suppliers who employ sustainable practices from product to packaging.

By working with companies that use refill-return programs we reduce packaging waste for our customers and behind the scenes!

We also work with brands to develop refillable options for their products.

Ethical

We demand ethical practices in our store and in all of the products we carry.

We never carry products that have caused an animal any suffering or death and our business upholds vegetarian practices.

We prioritize inclusion in our stores and in our partnerships, and implement fair labor practices with our team and in the making of our product line. We only work with brands that also follow these practices.

We believe that sustainable living should be accessible to everyone and continuously strive to keep our prices as low as possible while maintaining fair wages and sustainable materials across the supply chain.
